FOUNDER AND PRINCIPAL
Dr. Michael D. McClary
Commonwealth Christian Academy’s mission is to point children to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ, encourage spiritual growth, develop Christian character and morals, and promote sound academic achievement. In prayerful response to many requests of parents in the community, Commonwealth Christian Academy (CCA) was founded in 1997 by Dr. Michael D. McClary. Noting the secular mantra being generated by the public school system, CCA was established to provide a Biblically-based and Jesus Christ centered education as an alternative choice to all those families seeking the best for their children.

Teacher: Sherita Taylor
Mrs. Sherita Taylor has been a CCA supervisor for the past 7 years. After enrolling her children into the school, Mrs. Taylor became interested in learning exactly what her children were learning and how they were learning it. She therefore began to volunteer her free time not only to assist the school and its staff, but to satisfy her curiousity of the ACE curriculum. After learning the curriculum and being impressed, Mrs. Taylor applied for and was hired as a supervisor and has been with the school ever since. God has placed a burden on her heart to follow God’s great commandment saying: “And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou risest up”, Deuteronomy 6:7. Mrs. Taylor considers it a privilege and blessing to serve the families who entrust their children to CCA.

 MIDDLE SCHOOL
Teacher: Chiquita  Sharp
Ms. Chiquita Sharp always enjoyed working with children; however, the summers she spent working as a camp counselor, at Camp Alkulana, played a significant role in deepening her passion to show God’s love to at-risk youth. Making a difference, big or small, in her campers’ lives motivated her to seek a career in human services. While attending Sweet Briar College, Ms. Sharp seized the opportunities God had given her to strengthen her experience of working with youth, including: tutoring, service learning, and volunteering. After graduating in 2014, she eagerly sought God’s direction for the next chapter in her life and she is thankful that God led her to CCA. Ms. Sharp loves being a part of a community that strives to encourage the academic and spiritual growth of their students.
